EMDR therapy online.

Rewire your mind, virtually anywhere.

Sometimes it feels like you can’t breathe, like you’re heavy or trapped.

You know there are things you need to work on, but facing the confusing mess of your past seems impossible. Maybe you’ve tried talk therapy before, only to feel like it didn’t help. Anxiety shows up unannounced, nightmares disturb your rest, and triggers seem to come out of nowhere.Concentrating is hard—tasks go unfinished, conversations feel like a blur, and zoning out has become second nature. Being in public makes you feel on edge, as if something bad is about to happen. Whether you’re reading, writing, or just trying to connect with others, it’s exhausting.

What is EMDR?

Similar to an infection that prevents a wound from healing, an upsetting experience can fester long after it’s over.  The brain is built to adapt and change as we learn from new experiences.  When the experience is too disturbing, this process is interrupted and unhealthy things happen.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), is a tool to clear out the “rotten” memories so the brain can get back on track. This therapy goes deeper than talking and helps your mind physically rewire itself for healthier thinking.  The results are so powerful that they can be photographed by an MRI machine. During our sessions I guide you in thinking about these difficult memories, while engaging your brain with a repetitive activity.

(Ex. follow a moving dot with your eyes, tap your hands in a pattern, listen to a series of tones etc). This connects both sides of your brain so you can process the memory at the nervous system level. EMDR  therapy targets the root of your distress by transforming the way you (and your body) respond to things.  We will go deeper than surface-level conversation to achieve results that feel instinctual & effortless. We can actually undo those automatic responses you wish you didn’t have and change the patterns that leave you wondering, “Why am I like this?”. With EMDR, healing happens without the need to recount every detail. You only need to share as much as you feel comfortable with, and even that can be minimal.

How does EMDR work online?

  • My practice is entirely virtual and sessions are done by video call. I’m passionate about offering EMDR online because it ensures therapy remains accessible & effective, no matter a person’s  circumstances. I was among the first generation of EMDR therapists trained to adapt this therapy to a virtual format during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when many clients felt unsafe meeting in person, we had to get creative and resourceful. We refused to quit on our clients, and in doing so discovered that EMDR could be just as impactful online with the right tools and approach.

  • The technology I use turns any of your devices into the most cutting-edge EMDR equipment. I use a web-based platform called ‘Bilateral Base’ to provide the same high-quality experience as in-person EMDR . I’ve watched this field evolve rapidly since its start in 2020 & I believe this platform is one of our greatest breakthroughs yet.

  • You’ll receive a secure link to access my virtual office. .  There is no need to log-in, download, or subscribe to anything.  Here you will receive the same high-quality experience as in-person EMDR sessions. You will have access to all types of bilateral stimulation (moving visuals on your screen, sound tones through headphones, or even tactile vibrations using compatible devices). This flexibility means you can use nearly any device—whether it’s a PC, Mac, Chromebook, tablet, or phone—to join our sessions.

  • Bilateral Base provides the highest level of privacy with encrypted video calls.  This user friendly platform allows us to share notes, links, or images during sessions when needed. This combination of advanced technology and thoughtful design ensures you get all the benefits of EMDR therapy without compromise.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions about online EMDR.

  • EMDR therapy follows a structured process with 8 specific phases. These phases were carefully developed through decades of research. This structure ensures we’re not just driving randomly. We’re using a proven roadmap to guide your healing journey. These are the 8 Phases we will go through together:

    1. History Taking
I learn about your life and what’s bothering you. We create a plan to help with your specific struggles.

    2. Preparation
I teach you skills to handle big emotions during therapy and at home.  I want you to feel confident & back in the driver’s seat of your life.

    3. Assessment
Together, we identify the memory causing distress and explore the negative thoughts and feelings connected to it.

    4. Desensitization
Using things like eye movements or tapping, we focus on the memory while your brain works to make it feel less upsetting.

    5. Installation
I help you replace negative thoughts with positive, empowering ones that you believe.

    6. Body Scan
Sometimes there are no words to describe the pain, so we check how your body feels when thinking about the memory.

    7. Closure
Each session ends with you feeling calm and safe, even if there’s more work to do later. I’ll teach you how to put the pain in a ‘container’  until we revisit the memory.

    8. Reevaluation
At the start of each session, we discuss your progress and see if anything needs more attention. We will problem solve through any new challenges.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can help with a wide range of issues, including:

Trauma and PTSD: Healing from past abuse, accidents, or other traumatic experiences.

Anxiety and Panic: Reducing chronic worry, fear, and physical symptoms like racing thoughts or panic attacks.

Depression: Addressing negative beliefs and unprocessed pain contributing to low mood.

Phobias: Overcoming fears that interfere with daily life.

My clients typically resolve a single trauma memory in 8-12 weekly sessions. The average client spends 6-9 months working with me to achieve their goals.
